London Fashion Week 2026: UDGN and Fashion Scout Brought African Narratives to the Runway in “Anthology of African Stories”

During London Fashion Week 2026, Unity in Design Global Network (UDGN) and Fashion Scout staged “Anthology of African Stories — The People. The Land. The Heritage,” an immersive presentation combining catwalk and film to explore three personal fashion narratives without collapsing them into a single idea of “Africa.”

The programme was structured around three thematic pillars. Twin by Tare represented The People, Tayameaca embodied The Land, and Jermaine Bleu explored The Heritage, each building a distinct lens on identity, memory and cultural continuity.

For The People, ASIN KAI MI (“In My Blood”) by Twin by Tare referenced Ijaw wedding traditions, reworking ceremonial garments inspired by old family photographs. The George Wrapper—a textile passed through generations—served as a cultural anchor, supporting layered construction, modern silhouette work, hand beadwork and tailoring that privileged continuity over nostalgia.

For The Land, Tayameaca’s SAFARI (“A Living Archive”) translated the Zimbabwean landscape into material and movement, using earthy tones and fluid shapes to evoke soil, sky and water. The collection treated land as a living memory—something that shapes perception and the body’s relationship to space.

For The Heritage, Jermaine Bleu presented TWA ME FOTO (“Take a Picture of Me”), inspired by the memory of his late mother and the ceremonial meaning of Ghanaian dress. The collection reinterpreted kente through contemporary forms while maintaining its cultural weight, using handcrafted methods to emphasise care, visibility and inheritance.

UDGN was founded by designer and British Fashion Council member Tare Isaac, created to support underrepresented and African designers with mentorship, visibility and global opportunities, building a long-term ecosystem grounded in cultural authenticity and community.
