Topshop and Topman Launch AW26 Denim at London Fashion Week Opening Party

Topshop and Topman opened London Fashion Week with a denim-focused celebration on 19 September, launching their Autumn/Winter 2026 collection and Denim, Defined By You campaign. The evening began with guests travelling along the Thames aboard an Uber Boat by Thames Clippers before arriving at Woods Quay, but the product story centred on something more specific: a renewed denim wardrobe shaped by 1980s and 1990s references, expanded fits and the return of Tall and Petite sizing at Topshop.

Denim Moves Beyond the Jean

For Topshop, the AW26 collection revisits several recognisable denim shapes while extending the category into a broader wardrobe. The Vintage Straight offers the more worn-in, traditional proposition, while the Dillan Baggy brings a looser silhouette into the range.

The season’s key shape is The 90s Bootcut, reflecting the collection’s wider interest in denim associated with the late twentieth century without limiting the reference to archival reproduction.

Oversized jackets, coordinated double-denim looks, tailored separates and statement outerwear develop the category beyond trousers. That broader approach is significant because it positions denim not simply as a recurring basic, but as a material capable of moving between relaxed dressing and more constructed silhouettes.

Topman follows a similar strategy through proportion. The Rigid Barrel was presented alongside the new-season Rigid Baggy and Rigid Straight, giving the menswear offer several distinct approaches to leg shape rather than relying on a single dominant fit.

Fit Returns to the Centre of the Conversation

One of the more practical developments in the collection is the return of Tall and Petite sizing for Topshop. Core pieces are also being offered across multiple leg lengths and extended waist options.

For a denim launch, that matters as much as wash or silhouette. Jeans are particularly dependent on proportion, rise and length, so extending sizing changes how the same design can function across different bodies rather than simply adding more products to the collection.

“Denim has always been at the heart of Topshop and Topman. After months of fit refinement and wash innovation, it’s an exciting moment to unveil the next generation of denim,” said Janey Macleod, Head of Topshop.

“Our ‘Denim, Defined By You’ campaign is an homage to the unique character of denim — a fabric that is shaped by you. From our heritage-inspired silhouettes to more modern shapes, this collection is designed to give everyone the freedom to find the denim that feels right for them and wear it their own way,” said Macleod.

London Fashion Week Through the Topshop Lens

The launch also placed the collection directly within Topshop’s relationship with London fashion and culture. Guests wearing pieces from the range included Poppy Delevingne, Kim Turnbull, Stella Jones, Chloe Qisha and Saffron Vadher, alongside campaign faces Devi Rae and Naima Quinn.

Grace Carter, Danny Lomas, Zeze Millz and Boris Becker were also among those pictured at the event, while DJ Fat Tony and Jada-Kai provided the evening’s music.

Rather than staging a conventional runway presentation, Topshop and Topman used the opening-night format to show denim in a social setting, worn across different personalities and styling approaches. It aligns naturally with the Defined By You premise: the campaign places emphasis on what happens to familiar denim shapes once they leave the product image and become part of an individual wardrobe.

Founded in 1964, Topshop has a long history within British high-street fashion, with denim forming a recurring part of that identity. AW26 revisits that history without relying entirely on nostalgia. Bootcut, straight, baggy and barrel silhouettes reference different moments in denim dressing, while expanded sizing and a more complete denim wardrobe bring the category into the brand’s current proposition.
